How we’re contributing to a better, stronger food system in Canada
January feels like the perfect time of year to reflect on the importance of the choices we make every day, especially regarding the food we consume and the communities we support. At Rowe Farms, we are more committed than ever to nurturing a food system that is not just local and resilient, but one that also secures a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. We’ve written about our commitment to regeneration before, and we’re more dedicated than ever to holistic management—you’ll see that reflected in everything we do, including the continuation of our Solar Dollars program.
This is a long-term objective with a lot of moving pieces, but here’s a quick overview of our goals. If you have any questions or feedback, please contact us! Our team would be glad to hear from you.
Embracing a Local and Resilient Food System
If you want to secure access to high quality, delicious, nutrient-packed food, shopping local is key. We’ve seen what happens when communities rely on long-distance supply chains or industrialized systems to feed their family—when there’s a problem like a shortage or a transportation issue, everyone is affected. Our vision for a resilient food system is one where every purchase you make strengthens our local economy, supports Ontario farmers, and contributes to the health of our planet. This is a system that prioritizes regeneration and community well-being over short-term gains. Keeping things local means better food, fewer shortages and stronger communities—there’s no downside, in our opinion.
Introducing New Partners in Our Journey
Because we understand the importance of local food, we’ve reevaluated our supplier relationships in order to put a larger emphasis on products from southern Ontario and other local sources. We're excited to announce that we're expanding our network of suppliers—partners who share our vision of a regenerative future. These new relationships mean more variety and more locally sourced options for you, our valued customers. You might have noticed a few new brands on shelves already! Stay tuned as we introduce these passionate producers who are helping us to redefine how we feed our community. You’re going to love these amazing products!
Your role in this transformation
Your support has been the cornerstone of our efforts, and we truly appreciate your business. Rowe Farms invites you to continue being a part of this transformative journey by choosing to shop local and support Ontario farmers and food producers. Every visit to Rowe Farms and every product you choose contributes to building this new kind of food system—a system that cherishes our local roots and looks forward to a future where our environment and community thrive together. The benefits are clear now, but they’re even clearer when we think of them in the context of our planet, our children and our grandchildren. This is how we do things better and leave the world better than we found it—that matters to us, and we’d bet it matters to you, too.
