Long weekend BBQ tips from Rowe Farms
The first long weekend of the season is finally here, and we’re ready to enjoy it! The current forecast has us feeling pretty optimistic (it’s calling for some clouds, but no rain) and our fingers are crossed for the kind of beautiful late spring weather that calls for a hammock or Muskoka chair. After all, there’s only so much yard work a person can do!
Here are some long weekend tips, tricks and reminders from the Rowe Farms team. We hope to see you in Guelph or at one of our Toronto retail locations this weekend!
Get ready to grill
A long weekend should be relaxed and enjoyable from start to finish, and a little planning can help you achieve this goal. Here are some tips and tricks from our team:
- Make sure your BBQ is clean, working well, and has plenty of propane (if needed).
- Stock up on these high quality applewood pellets and chips, if you’re going to be using a smoker!
- Locate and wash your outdoor dishes/glassware if you haven’t used those items since the fall. We know how they can get shoved to the back of a cupboard over the winter months!
- If you’re hosting a BBQ or having a big family meal, make things like potato salad and coleslaw ahead of time—even the night before, if you want! This way, you can socialize, work in the garden or relax while these items chill in the fridge.
- Consider making most of your meal outdoors to minimize dishes and maximize downtime. Grilled vegetables are always a treat, and asparagus is currently in season!
- Want to save money on delicious, high quality, local products? Check out our cost-saving bundles and value packs before making your shopping list. If you don’t receive our Solar Dollar Deal emails, sign up here—it’s free to register and you’ll get new offers every single week!
One more tip, and it’s a good one: don’t forget to take advantage of BurgerFest! When you buy a package of our grass-fed beef burgers, sirloin burgers or gourmet steak burgers during the month of May, the cost works out to just $2.75 per patty. These options come frozen and contain 8 burgers per package. If you'd rather buy fresh burgers, we're also offering our delectable beef brisket burgers for just $4.50 each (sold in packages of two).
This deal is being offered to registered Solar Dollar Rewards members only, but good news—there's no cost to sign up, and it only takes a couple of minutes to create your free account. There is a limit of one package per customer per day on frozen burgers and two packages per day on our fresh brisket burgers. You don’t need a code—your discount will be applied automatically online or by our in-store team. If you have any questions, please let us know!
