3 quick and easy meals for Halloween night
Halloween is not an event that traditionally involves a family dinner, and when we think about ‘Halloween food,’ we’ll be honest: we’re thinking about candy (and those mini chocolate bars). That said, families need to eat on Halloween—ideally something quick, easy and hearty. After all, there are costumes to get on and treats to be collected!
On October 31st, dinner is about utility—but it can still be delicious. Here are three quick and easy meals you can prepare and enjoy before the first trick-or-treater arrives (or between trips to your front door, at least). You can find everything you need at your local Rowe Farms retail location. Have a safe and happy Halloween, everyone!
Crescent roll hot dogs + veggies and dip
Take some of these award-winning all beef hot dogs from our friends at VG Meats and wrap them in some crescent roll dough (you know, the stuff that comes out of a blue can). Bake until the dough is flakey and delicious, then serve these crescent roll dogs with some ketchup for dipping, a plate of fresh vegetables for sharing and your favourite dip (ranch is always a hit). Put out some sliced apples or berries as well and you’re all set to go trick-or-treating on a full stomach.
Pizza (the good stuff)
Why order a pizza when you can heat and serve a gourmet pie straight out of the oven? Rowe Farms carries a variety of delicious pizzas from Defina Pizzeria in Roncesvalles. Choose from Pepperoni, The Kids (a very basic pepperoni with no added toppings), The Butcher, Homestead or Margherita varieties. Add a salad or some apple slices on the side and you’re good to go. We won’t judge if you eat this dinner on-the-go!
Snack plates
Why cook on Halloween when you can assemble a series of delicious, snackable bites that the whole family will love? Start with some sliced turkey kielbasa or Polish sausage and some mild little VGs pepperettes. Add some sliced apples, fresh berries, cubed or sliced cheese, some of your favourite crackers, veggies and dip, and some great dips. It’s a kid-friendly take on a charcuterie spread that’s filling, delicious and super easy. Plus, if you approach this dinner as a ‘grazing station’ instead of a plated meal, there won’t be many dishes to do tonight. Enjoy!
